Due to wintry conditions this morning, Sunday, January 16, 2022, our worship service is canceled. We encourage you to have an hour of home worship with the resources below.
SCRIPTURE READING – Luke 22:24 A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.
PRAYER – Quiet yourself for this time of home worship. Confess your sin to God and remember the forgiveness that is ours in Christ Jesus. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with faith and wisdom, that you may know Jesus more and more.

SERMON – Acts 6: 1 Now in these days when the disciples were increasing in number, a complaint by the Hellenists arose against the Hebrews because their widows were being neglected in the daily distribution. 2 And the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should give up preaching the word of God to serve tables. 3 Therefore, brothers, pick out from among you seven men of good repute, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we will appoint to this duty. 4 But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”5 And what they said pleased the whole gathering, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 These they set before the apostles, and they prayed and laid their hands on them. 7 And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.

GIVING – To worship in giving to the ministry of the gospel at Citylight, go HERE for instructions on how to give.
PRAYER – As you close this time of home worship, come again to God in prayer. What is God most impressing upon you in this time in His Word and by His Spirit? Pray that God will fill us with the Holy Spirit so that we are full of faith and wisdom.
LOVE and SERVE – As you rest in the Lord this day, how also could you respond to God’s Word in love and service to others? Is there someone you could call or message to encourage? Is there a neighbor you can serve in this winter storm? In the kingdom of God, greatness is seen in serving others. “The greatest among you shall be your servant. Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted” (Matthew 23:11-12).
