Reformation Day 2017

On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther posted ninety-five theses on the church door at Wittenberg—an action that helped to spark the Protestant Reformation. We are indebted to the Reformers’ courageous stand against the civil and ecclesiastical forces of their day as they recovered the truth and purity of the Gospel. And now five hundred years later, these doctrines of grace continue to point us to a life of worship unto God, in love to neighbors and nations.

On the Sunday closest to Reformation Day, we will gather with other churches in the Roanoke Valley to glorify God together. This year First Evangelical Presbyterian Church is hosting, and Pastor Mark Vaughan of Calvary Memorial Church is preaching Sola Gratia, by grace alone.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—
by grace you have been saved
