I have seen everything that is done under the sun,
and behold, all is vanity and a striving after wind.
Ecclesiastes 1:14
Is this really true? Is life really meaningless with its pursuits and passions?
In the next months, we will gather under the summer sun through the book of Ecclesiastes. This Old Testament book could seem enigmatic with pessimism and fatalism, but rather it is enduring with wisdom and relevance, teaching us that everything does matter in relationship to God. Christ Jesus is the wisdom of God (1 Cor. 1:24,30), and so we hope in him until his glorious return, even as creation is now subjected to vain futility (Rom. 8:20).

Fear God and keep his commandments,
for this is the whole duty of man.
