We invite you to these two services this Easter season – remembering the passion of the Lord Jesus Christ and celebrating his resurrection.
Maundy Thursday Service, April 2
7:00 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church
2216 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24017
On the night in which he would be betrayed, the night before his crucifixion, the Lord Jesus gathered with his disciples to share a meal, to serve them, and to teach them. “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35). Maundy Thursday, derived from the the Latin word mandatum meaning “commandment,” is a time to gather in worship of God, remembering Christ’s sacrificial and saving love to us as his disciples.
This year Citylight will gather once again with other churches for a combined Maundy Thursday service of Scripture reading and Communion together.
Easter Morning Worship, April 5
10:00 a.m. at the Kirk Family YMCA
520 Church Ave. SW, 24016 (park and enter at lower entrance on Luck Ave.)
On the dawn on the third day, the stone was rolled away, and the tomb was empty. Christ was risen from the grave, just as he had said! Christ is victorious over death! He appeared to many, speaking words of peace to his rejoicing followers.
On Easter Sunday, we gather again to celebrate the glorious resurrection of Jesus in singing, prayer and the preached Word. This also will be the first Sunday in which we switch how we use the YMCA. Please click HERE for instructions for parking and entrance.
1 Corinthians 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received:
that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures,
4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
