the DEATH of DEATH

What happens when we die? Is there an afterlife, and if so, what will it be like? It is very human to ponder our life, our death and what lies beyond.

For two weeks this April – Palm Sunday and Easter Sunday – Citylight will come to 1 Corinthians 15 which proclaims the very death of death. There are many significant chapters in the Bible, such as Psalm 23, Isaiah 53 and Romans 8, yet it is 1 Corinthians 15 that is often called “the resurrection chapter.” It is of first importance to remember that in accordance to the Scripture Christ Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day. This is both the truth of the gospel and the hope of our faith. One day in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, we too will be changed and raised with resurrection bodies to eternal life. We who are in Christ will know glorious victory and unfading joy, dwelling bodily with him forever.

If you are curious to learn more about Jesus, or if you are without a church home, we invite you to visit Citylight this Easter season in our Sunday worship and in a City Group.
