“Hebrews: Anchor Of The Soul” is our season of life and learning together from April to September. The book of Hebrews is a majestic sermon written to encourage a people who were experiencing a crisis of faith. God has revealed Himself through the ages, but in these last days, God has spoken to us by His Son. We can hold fast to the hope set before us for Jesus is a sure and steadfast Anchor of the soul (cf. Hebrews 6:18-19).
Out of this new series, Pastor Philip Hatter (artist and owner of Thistledown Puppets) was inspired to create a small linocut print. We are going to have these prints available for purchase, and all of the donations will benefit Steven and Lauren Siler’s adoption fees.
the Silers
For those of you that don’t know the Silers, they are a young couple that travelled to Africa last year and had their hearts broken as they spent time with the people of Kenya—especially the children. They were moved to adopt, and because of the difficulties with the Kenyan government, they are adopting from Ethiopia.
You can read more about their story and see other fundraising campaigns on their Facebook page 4.7 Million Minus 2. We look forward to welcoming these children into our midst (what a wonderful picture of the Gospel), and purchasing a print is a way that you can tangibly contribute to making this a reality.
print information
This is an edition of 50 prints and they will be available beginning Sunday, April 7 at the upstairs welcoming table at the Kirk Family YMCA. The suggested donation for each print is $20, but since this is a donation for the Silers’ adoption, we welcome larger gifts. We can accept cash, check (payable to Citylight Church), and even credit card (via Citylight’s CityPay).
As far as framing goes, the paper they are printed on is 5 /4″ by 7 1/4″, so they will fit in an standard 8×10 frame with a 5′×7′ photo mat.
If you are not a part of our church community and would like to purchase a print, you can e-mail Pastor Philip Hatter (phatter@citylightroanoke.com). He will answer any questions you may have, including instructions on making a donation. He will also package and ship a print to you.
