Baptism

We believe that baptism is given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ as a means of grace. Baptism is a visual and symbolic demonstration of a person’s salvation by God, union with Christ and belonging to the church. The Scriptures teach that baptism is …

  • A public profession of our faith in Jesus Christ (Acts 18:8)
  • An act of obedience to the example of Jesus and the commands of Scripture (Mark 1:9; Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:38)
  • A sign given by Jesus to show that we belong to him in his death and resurrection (Romans 6:3-4; Col. 2:12)
  • A picture of us being raised to new life, being washed clean from our sins (Romans 6:4; Acts 22:16)
  • A sign of our unity in the church (Eph. 4:4-5; 1 Cor. 12:13)

Citylight baptizes by water immersion those who profess saving faith in Jesus Christ. If you believe the gospel, then you are ready to be baptized. For more information about baptism, please read this baptism booklet or contact us.
